The librarians' questions were good and perceptive. They were particularly interested in embedded library instruction, partnerships with faculty, library automation, the library as place, and working conditions for U.S. librarians.

If you get a chance to visit the little local public library in Ubud next to the soccer field, it's worth it. But because there is no A/C, the continued life of books is tenuous. They do have a program encouraging kids to read and sponsor classes like Balinese dance, I think. Last year Hoyt and I found some typed up historical info on Bali stuffed in the back on the left in the "book lending" section. If you want a snack, they also have a little cafe.
