Maybe some works by Florida's Poet Laureates?
Carlson, Charlie. Weird Florida.
This is one of my favorite books, and I was proud to see that we own a copy.
Jonathan,
My favorite book about Florida is called Hot Damn: Alligators, Nude Women in the Grass, How Seashells Changed the Course of History, and other Dispatches from Paradise. It is a book of essays by James Hall that is hugely fun to read, and very perceptive of Cracker culture, suburban sprawl, and all the other assorted oddities that make Florida so interesting.
