This is Broken

There are so many things about libraries that are broken.

What do you think is broken? I would love to read about it in the comments.

Good stuff – I particularly like the “I’m not a fish” reason for things being broken. I think that one is pretty common here – things are designed by librarians for patrons, and librarians don’t think like patrons.

However, I think fish have a responsibility to tell people how to make things for them. We got some comments in LibQual that the website wasn't to some peoples' liking. I can guarantee you that despite our many attempts to get patron feedback during the creation process, many of the people who claim our website is broken chose not to participate in our usability testing, surveys, or calls for feedback.

Consumers tend to be apathetic until it's time to complain.
